Danie Schacter, LCPC

I am a Wisconsin native who has been calling Bozeman home since 2020. I love spending time being active in nature – hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and biking. I also enjoy yoga, cooking (and eating), reading, movies, and spending time with my friends, family, and dog.

Who I work with

Individuals – I work with individuals (16+) who may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, and grief/loss. I am also experienced in working with individuals with bipolar disorder, ADHD, dissociation, and trauma (PTSD and complex trauma). I find it a true privilege to help others process their world experiences and gain a new understanding and perspective on life.

My Philosophy

I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy and feel that everyone deserves to experience contentment with who they are and where they are at in life. I utilize a client-centered, strengths based approach and would describe myself as a genuine and direct, yet gentle, therapist. I focus on interpersonal dynamics in the therapeutic space and incorporate mindfulness, somatic, and other coping strategies in session. I find it’s important to both provide the tools and skills needed to navigate day-to-day life while also treating the ‘root’ of the problem. I am eclectic, creative, and individualized in my approach to counseling. I primarily use, and have been trained in, Ego State Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

“Give yourself permission to allow this moment to be exactly as it is, and allow yourself to be exactly as you are.”

-John Kabat-Zinn

I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years in a wide variety of settings including a group home, community support program, case management, day support program, and outpatient therapy.
