Alissa Spencer, Counseling Intern
As a former teacher and a natural health & wellness advocate, my purpose is to help people. I have a deep passion for learning and then teaching those in need the valuable knowledge that I have received to become our best selves and live fulfilling lives. In my personal life, I love the outdoors and spend my weekends camping and boating in the summer, snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winter, hiking and gardening in the spring, and backpacking in the fall. I also love yoga, meditation, cooking, and traveling. I can’t go a day without coffee and chocolate!
My Philosophy
I believe that health involves wellness within our many dimensions: emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual. I hold this holistic framework while prioritizing a client-centered approach, allowing whatever is present to be the focus of session. I utilize Mindfulness Based techniques to help you better identify and regulate your emotions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you gain awareness of and transform your thoughts, and Somatic Therapy to help you to release emotions and trauma that have become stuck within the body. I recognize that each of us is different, which is why I believe that identifying values and what is most important to you brings clarity to the necessary actions that you must take to build the life that you desire.
“Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
